Privacy policy
Wessembly Counsellors is a counselling practice in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. We also sell video courses and gift them on someone's behalf. This policy explains what we collect when you use this site, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect, and why
When you create an account. Your name, email address and a password, and your phone number if you choose to give one. Your password is never stored as you typed it; we keep only a one-way hash, which cannot be turned back into your password.
When you book a session. The service, counsellor, date and time you chose, whether the session is online or in person, and anything you write in the box for what you would like to talk about. We keep the time zone your booking was made in so the time we show you is the time you meant.
When you ask us to help you choose a counsellor. Your answers to the short questionnaire, and the email address you give so we can send the suggestions. The answers are used to suggest counsellors and are stored with that request.
When you pay. Payments are taken by Flutterwave on their own secure page, not on ours. We never see or store your card number, expiry date, CVV or card PIN. What we keep is the amount, the currency, whether the payment succeeded, the reference we issued, Flutterwave's transaction reference, the type of payment method used, and the email address you gave at checkout.
When you buy or are given a course. Which courses you are enrolled in and how far through the lessons you are.
When you buy a gift. The recipient's name and email address, any second address you give, the occasion, your message to them, and when you would like it delivered.
When you contact us. Your name, email address and your message.
Whenever you use the site. Our host, Cloudflare, sees the IP address your request comes from. When you sign in we record an approximate location for that session — the country and region Cloudflare reports — so you can recognise your own sign-ins on your devices page and spot one that is not yours.
Counselling information is treated differently
What you write about why you are seeking counselling, and your questionnaire answers, are more sensitive than the rest. Inside the practice:
- A counsellor sees the bookings that are theirs, not everybody's.
- An administrator sees a booking without your notes or phone number unless their account specifically holds permission to view them. Where it does not, the system tells them the note is withheld and the text never leaves our server.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, and no others. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run analytics that profile you.
better-auth.session_tokenandbetter-auth.session_datakeep you signed in. They cannot be read by scripts in your browser, and they are sent only over HTTPS.- Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person, sets its own.
- If you play a course video, YouTube sets its own cookies. That only happens when you press play.
Who else handles your information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and the records attached to it for as long as your account is open, and afterwards for as long as we need to meet our financial and legal obligations — payment and refund records in particular. Counselling records are kept in line with our professional obligations as a counselling practice. If you would like your information removed, write to us and we will tell you what we can delete and what we are required to keep.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you
- correct it where it is wrong
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it
- stop using it for a particular purpose
- give you a copy in a portable form
Write to info@wessemblycounsellors.com and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Keeping it safe
The whole site is served over HTTPS, and browsers are instructed to refuse an unencrypted connection to it. Passwords are hashed. Access to information inside the practice is limited by permission, as described above. Our payment provider's messages to us are checked before they are acted on, and we confirm every payment with Flutterwave directly rather than trusting what a browser tells us.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. Where counselling involves a young person, that is arranged with a parent or guardian directly rather than through an account here.
Changes
We keep every version of this policy. When we change it, the new version is published here with a new effective date.
